    WIDE Switzerland and WIDE+

Switzerland is happy to announce the renewal of the Mercosur Trade Agreement with some Latin American States, promising economic benefits for all. Women in the global South have long criticised the detrimental effects on small scale farming households and workers in the food business. WIDE+ as a long-standing International Feminist network, links up with activists and researchers in countries like Mexico and Costa Rica. Edme Dominguez introduces the idea and realities of trade agreements, and what affected women say and experience, taking the example of tropical fruit. We learn how it is possible to link up, create alliances and where we see a positive impact to resist and change the agenda.
Input by Dr. Edme Dominguez from Gadip/WIDE+ and facilitation by Heike Wach/Johanna Herrigel, WIDE Switzerland
