Examples of the permaculture methods Taleb Brahim is developing in the Sahrawi refugee camp:
- The sandroponic system requires hardly any water compared to conventional drip irrigation by keeping the water in a circular system.
- In hydroponics, fish farming is combined with vegetable and green fodder cultivation.
- The dome is a green and shady construction for hydroponics and sandroponics and offers a pleasant ambience in a holistic approach.
All methods are simple and practical, aiming at producing food for the Sahrawi refugees dependent on humanitarian aid - against all odds like temperatures above 50 degrees, large temperature fluctuations, extreme water scarcity, lack of soil and sandstorms.
